About
Query A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, CNAME and CAA DNS records. Read nameservers and TTL values, then copy or download the results.
Choose the right record
A and AAAA locate IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. MX identifies mail servers, NS lists authoritative nameservers and TXT often contains verification or email-policy data.
Read the TTL
TTL is a cache lifetime in seconds, not the age of a record. Resolvers can return different cached answers while changes propagate.
Try this
Choose example.com and A, then Run Tool. The Value column contains returned IPv4 addresses. Switch to AAAA for IPv6; an empty answer for a record type is not the same as a missing domain.
Network checks originate from the WhatsMyIP server. Only public destinations are accepted. Timeouts may reflect filtering or network conditions rather than a faulty website.
Use the result as one part of your troubleshooting. Network information can change over time.
A useful next step
- Check a TCP port — If DNS resolves but the service still cannot be reached.
- Inspect the TLS certificate — If the connection works but HTTPS reports a certificate error.
- Understand IPv4 and IPv6 addresses — Learn why A and AAAA records can point to different address families.
