Each row represents a hop reported by the server-side trace. Bars compare round-trip times within this run, not the time spent on each individual link.
Asterisks are not a diagnosis
Routers can ignore or filter trace probes while forwarding normal traffic. This UDP trace uses one probe per hop, a 0.5-second reply wait and a 16-hop limit. IPv4 or IPv6 is selected from the resolved destination; our server needs a working route for that family. Private hops are hidden. Try 1.1.1.1 to inspect a public destination; no destination reply does not prove it is offline.
Network checks originate from the WhatsMyIP server. Only public destinations are accepted. Timeouts may reflect filtering or network conditions rather than a faulty website.
Use the result as one part of your troubleshooting. Network information can change over time.
